New Laptop: Apple 2.2Ghz Macbook

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

A few weeks ago, in thinking about pursuing real estate photography, I realized I would need a flexible portfolio to show off my work to potential clients. After talking to some friends and family and doing some research of my own, I figured a Mac would fit my needs well. I found a previous generation 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo White Macbook for ~30% off the original price on the refurbished page of the Apple.com store. I ordered it the Wednesday before easter and received it in the mail the next Wednesday. It took literally 5 minutes (or so) to set up my user account and network connections. This is my first Mac, so the operating system is all new to me, but I found it simple and easy to use. Overall, the Macbook is excellent. Fast, easy to use, and simple, elegant design. Of course, surfing the web and instant messaging on the couch again is great. :-D

New Lens: Sigma 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Woohoo! I just received the newest addition to my photographic arsenal in the mail today. I ran out of sunlight pretty soon after I got home from work, so I was not able to take many shots. I ran outside right after opening it to take the obligatory “straight up” shot in my backyard, shown below cropped to a rectangle.

I am going to Pennsylvania tomorrow and I plan on taking some photos up there. I will be back Saturday afternoon, hopefully with some photos to show. Have a good weekend!

I apologize for the lack of entries these past few days. I just got home from a youth retreat with my church to Pinebrook Bible Conference. It was an awesome time of fellowship, worship, and teaching. I had meant to post warning that I would be gone for the next couple days, but I ran out of time. I will be adding photos from my trip to Pennsylvania the days before New Years.

Going away

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Hey everyone! Today I am taking a trip to visit my family in Pennsylvania. I will be back sometime Saturday, most likely during the afternoon. There is a possibility of my posting from there, but I will not be able to post photos. While I am up there, I hope to take a few photography trips, so I will have photos to show you all when I get back. Have a great rest-of-the-week.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Welcome To Vito Paratore’s Blog

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

Hello Everyone! Welcome to my brand new blog. In the near future, I plan on sharing photographs, trip reports, thoughts, and ideas. You’re probably wondering, “Who is this Vito, guy?” I’ll be glad to answer that question for you.

First and foremost, I’m a Christian. I believe Jesus is God and that He gave His life on the cross so that I may be freed from the bondage of sin and live for eternity in heaven when I die. Secondly, I’m a photographer. I found my inspiration for photography on a month-long trip “Out West.” My family, grandparents, and I visited scenic locations all over the United States. I had a cheap (really cheap) 35mm point and shoot, which broke in the middle of the trip. A few months after we were back home, I bought a Canon Powershot G2. I’ve been going crazy reading books, reading internet tutorials, and participating in photography forums. Since then I’ve upgraded to a Canon 400D and a couple of lenses.

You can see my work at www.vitoparatore.com.

Have a great day. Stop by again soon!
