Sandy Hook: Dec. 14th

Friday, December 14th, 2007

I had the day off work today, so I was able to take a trip to Sandy Hook for sunset. I explored an area I had not visited before and found some nice spots. Everywhere I walked, I ran into garbage, whether it was a soda can someone “forgot” to bring back with them, or crazy things like a car bumper, a tire, and what looked like part of a deck. It makes me wonder where all this comes from. I found this bottle on the walk back to my car. I was drawn to the lines and textures of the sand.

Sandy Hook

Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Yesterday afternoon, I drove up to Sandy Hook. I met two photo-friends of mine from naturescapes there, Chris Kayler and Kari Post. We wandered the peninsula a bit before deciding on the best spot to shoot. We were there early afternoon; the sun was high and the light was harsh. Sandy Hook is good for sunrise, sunset, and bird photography. It has loads of potential for abstract images of texture and color, as well as many options for macro subjects. I will definitely be taking a trip back, possibly for sunrise next time.
